Chess Clock & Game Timer

A full screen chess clock with increment and delay, and a turn timer for 3 to 6 players in board games

How to use

  1. Choose 2 players for chess, or 3 to 6 players for a board game turn timer.
  2. Pick a quick start like 5 + 3 blitz, or set the minutes and bonus seconds yourself, then press Set up the clock.
  3. Put the phone or tablet between the players. The player who does not move first taps their side to start the other clock.
  4. After each move, tap your own side, or press Space on a keyboard. The clock turns red when time runs out.

Why use this tool

Frequently asked questions

How do I use a chess clock?

Each player has their own time. After you move, you press your side of the clock, which stops your time and starts your opponent's. If your time reaches zero, you lose on time.

What does 5 + 3 mean?

Each player starts with 5 minutes and gets 3 extra seconds after every move they make. This is called Fischer increment.

What is the difference between increment and delay?

Increment adds seconds after every move, so time can build up. Delay gives a few free seconds at the start of each move before the clock counts down, so time never goes above what you started with.

Can I use it for board games?

Yes. Choose 3 to 6 players, give each a name, and tap to pass the turn to the next player. Each player has their own countdown.

Will the screen turn off during a game?

On browsers that support it, the page keeps the screen awake while a clock is running.
