QR & Barcode Scanner

Scan a QR code or barcode with your camera or from a photo, and see where a link really goes before you open it

How to use

  1. Press Start camera and allow camera access. On a phone the back camera is used.
  2. Point the camera at a QR code or a barcode. It is read on its own, there is nothing to press.
  3. Check the result. For a link you see the real website first, with a warning if anything looks off, and you choose whether to open it.
  4. No camera? Choose Scan an image and pick a photo or screenshot, drop it on the page, or paste it with Ctrl+V.

Why use this tool

Frequently asked questions

How do I scan a QR code online?

Open this page, press Start camera and hold the code in front of the camera. On a laptop the webcam works too. The result appears as soon as the code is in focus.

How do I scan a QR code from a screenshot or an image?

Choose Scan an image, then pick the file, drop it on the page, or copy the image and press Ctrl+V. The code does not need to be centred, but a sharper and larger code reads more reliably.

Is it safe to scan a QR code?

Scanning is safe, opening the link is the risk. Fake parking and payment codes are common, so this scanner shows you the real address first and flags tricks used to disguise it. Only open links from a site you expected.

Can it connect me to a Wi-Fi network?

A website is not allowed to change your Wi-Fi settings, so it shows the network name and password to copy. Your phone's own camera app can usually join directly.

Why is my barcode not being read?

Hold the code flat and still, fill more of the picture with it, and add light. The flashlight button appears on phones that support it. Very small, blurry or damaged codes may not read.

Are my scans uploaded or saved?

Nothing is uploaded. The last scans are kept only in this browser so you can find them again, and Clear deletes them.
