Test a PlayStation, Xbox or Switch controller: every button and trigger, stick drift with a suggested deadzone, stick reach and vibration
How to use
Connect your controller by USB or Bluetooth and press any button so the browser can see it.
Press every button and pull both triggers. Each one lights up, shows how far it is pressed, and turns green once tested.
Roll each stick slowly around its edge to draw how far it reaches in every direction.
Let go of both sticks and press Check for stick drift. Try the rumble buttons if your controller vibrates.
Why use this tool
Stick drift, measured: With your hands off, the tester records where each stick rests for three seconds, says whether it drifts, and suggests the deadzone that would hide it.
Named for your controller: Buttons are labelled Cross and Circle on a PlayStation pad, A and B on Xbox, and B and A on a Switch Pro controller.
Analog triggers and buttons: Every button shows its pressure from 0 to 1, so a trigger that never reaches full travel is easy to spot.
Stick reach and circularity: A live outline shows how far each stick reaches in every direction, with a circularity error, to catch a stick that falls short on one side.
Several controllers at once: Switch between connected controllers, and test vibration where the browser supports it.
Frequently asked questions
How do I test my controller for stick drift?
Connect the controller, let go of both sticks completely, and press Check for stick drift. If a stick rests more than about 12% away from centre, it is drifting, and the tester suggests a deadzone that hides it in games.
My controller is plugged in but nothing shows. Why?
For privacy, browsers only reveal a controller after one of its buttons is pressed while the page is open. Press any button. If it still does not appear, try a different cable or port, or pair it again by Bluetooth.
Does it work with PS5, PS4, Xbox and Switch controllers?
Yes. DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox One and Series controllers, Switch Pro controllers and most generic USB pads work in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.
Can stick drift be fixed?
Cleaning around the stick base with compressed air sometimes helps. Raising the deadzone in game settings hides mild drift. Lasting drift usually needs the stick module replaced, or a warranty repair.
Why does the rumble test not work?
Vibration from a web page is supported mainly in Chrome and Edge, and not by every controller or connection type. The other tests work regardless.
